Mediterranean centre for cultural heritage
In 2013, the Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée (MuCEM)- (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations) and the Institut national du patrimoine (Inp) – (National Institute of Cultural Heritage) joined forces to create the Institut méditerranéen des métiers du patrimoine (I2MP - Mediterranean centre for cultural heritage)-, dedicated to the training of heritage professionals and focusing on the challenges and needs of a Mediterranean cultural heritage.
Its mission : To train in the methods of conservation and restoration, in the management and enhancement of cultural heritage.
Set up in order to promote exchange schemes between heritage professionals, the I2MP is open to all kinds of initiatives and projects in the Mediterranean basin and serves as a forum for exchange and cooperation bringing professionals from the Mediterranean basin area together through different training activities.
Founded on the basis of a broader definition of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, the I2MP seeks to associate technical and scientific expertise with a perfect understanding of a cultural context in which these Mediterranean cultures apply.
