Curators of the cultural heritage are a part of the government's service, a framework of professions in territorial governmental service, and a component of the city of Paris. Their activities are divided into five specialties: archeology, archives, historical monuments and inventory, museums, scientific, technical and natural heritage.
Curators of cultural heritage hold scientific and administrative responsabilities. Appointed within or at the head of institutes dealing with cultural heritage, they are in charge of studying, classifying, storing, maintaining, enriching, enhancing and helping the audience discover the cultural heritage. They contribute to share its treasures with the widest audiences possible. They make sure to improve scientific research applied to the cultural heritage.
