Department of curators
Cultural heritage curators constitute a corps of the State civil service, career posts in local government authorities, and belong to a corps of the City of Paris. Placed within or at the head of cultural heritage institutions, heritage curators must study, categorize, preserve, maintain, enrich, promote and increase heritage awareness for the public at large. They contribute and supervise the development of scientific research applied to heritage.
Recruited by the inp through competitive examinations in five specialties: archaeology, archives, historical monuments and inventory, museology, scientific, technical and natural heritage – student-curators follow an 18-month training programme in order to prepare them for their future professions.
