Accommodating students and people with disabilities

The Institut national du patrimoine is committed to the inclusion of students, continuing education trainees, the general public and employees with disabilities.

Building Access

The law of 11 February 2005 on equal rights and opportunities, participation, and citizenship for people with disabilities imposes the principle that buildings that are establishments open to the public (ERP) should be accessible by 1 January 2015.

Our Paris and Aubervilliers sites are accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Telephone accessibility

The switchboards at each of the Institute's sites have a service that provides access.

The Accéo system provides direct access to Instant Speech Transcription (IST), French Sign Language (LSF) interpretation and Complete Spoken French (LPC) visio-coding services to deaf and hard-of-hearing people via an application that can be downloaded free of charge onto their computer or mobile phone.

Digital Access

The Institute is developing an approach to digital accessibility, for example via its website, which meets accessibility standards. Competitive examination candidates, students, continuing education trainees, and heritage professionals with disabilities all have access to information about the institution's activities.

Individual adapted measures for candidates and students with disabilities

Working closely with the directors of studies and the relevant partners (Ministry of Culture and inter-university preventive medicine services), the disability advisor identifies and assesses the needs and individual arrangements required for candidates and students with disabilities:

  • adjustments to competitive examinations and other exams (after the candidate has consulted an approved doctor),
  • communication assistance (French sign language interpreting, etc.),
  • making teaching content available (electronically, etc.).

The disability advisor organises everything involved in accommodating students with disabilities and coordinates with the teaching and administrative teams.
